P1-3 For Keystage1 students (KS1), the focus is primarily on literacy through building foundational reading skills in students. A high focus is on phonics, vocabulary, sight words, and increasing students’ awareness of different topics through English as the medium of instruction. The home-reading program is also an essential part of the KS1 program and encourages students to read independently and progress at their own pace. P.4-6 For Keystage2 students (KS2), students are grouped according to their reading abilities. This ensures that learner diversity is catered to and that students’ needs are met with more focus. These reading groups focus on shared and guided reading. The students of the highest reading ability, focus on the 4 reciprocal teaching skills (summarize, clarify, question, predict) with the NET teacher and reading teachers.
